Augmented Reality

WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY ?

  • Augmented Reality (AR) is the process of superimposing digitally rendered images onto our real-world surroundings, giving a sense of an illusion or virtual reality. Recent developments have made this technology accessible using a smartphone.
  • The goal of Augmented Reality is to create a system in which the user cannot tell the difference between the real world and the virtual augmentation of it. Today Augmented Reality is used in entertainment, military training, engineering design, robotics, manufacturing and other industries.
  • AR is getting more common each day. Let me show you a video to make you understand why it is so popular.

Here is a list of best Augmented Reality apps.
And here you can see some apps that you can use in classroom to make your lessons more fun :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day :)

Digital Storytelling

Digital storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. In general, they all revolve around the idea of combining the art of telling stories with a variety of multimedia, including graphics, audio, video, and Web publishing.

Like traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. As you can understand from it's name, digital stories usually contain some mages, text, recorded audio narration, video clips, and/or music. The stories used in education typically last between 2-10 minutes. The topics used in digital storytelling vary. It's a large range from personal stories to historical events, from health issues to our nation's biggest issues and literally everyting in between.

Social Bookmarking

Hello, everyone. What I'd like to share with you today is something that'll help you in every field of your life. Your profession, age, gender simply doesn't matter. You are about to learn something that will improve your life online :) As someone who have lots of trouble with remembering, categorizing and making a use of the websites I liked; finding about social bookmarking has been a blessing for me. It's not hard to understand what social bookmarking is from the way I described my problems. But I'll try to summarize what exactly it is and what sorf of benefits it has for us.

Social bookmarking helps people to store, organize, search, share and manage "bookmarks" of web pages. Unlike storing bookmarks in a folder on your computer, tagged pages are stored on the Web and can be accessed from any computer. Most social bookmark services are organized by users applying “tags” or keywords to content on a Web site. You can keep your bookmars private or make them public which means you can easily share them with friends.

Here, you can watch and learn how to use Diigo, a social bookmarking site which allows signed-up users to bookmark and tag web-pages. Additionally, it allows users to highlight any part of a webpage and attach sticky notes to specific highlights or to a whole page. (which is great, imo!)
*You can check my Diigo account here :)

If you'd like to find other sites, you should check out this page that offers you 50+ social bookmarking sites.

Regardless, hope you all have a wonderful day :)

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites. Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

Effects of cyberbullying
  •  Kids who are cyberbullied are more likely to:
  • Use alcohol and drugs
  •  Skip school
  • Experience in-person bullying
  • Be unwilling to attend school Receive poor grades
  • Have lower self-esteem
  • Have more health problems

How To Stop Cyberbullying
  • Encourage teens to report incidents of cyber bullying to an adult.
  • Reassure the bullying victim that they are not at fault for these attacks against them.
  • Encourage adolescents and teens to save cyber bullying messages as proof that the cyber bullying is occurring.
  • Since much of the cyber bullying attacks happen via cell phones, victims should start by changing their cell phone number and/or email addresses.
  • Cyberbullying statistics  indicate that many instances involve the bully impersonating someone else. Therefore, encourage young people not to send information or photos via text  they wouldn’t want shared publicly.

To make you understand how important to raise awareness about this topic, here are some statics regarding the issue in 2014.

Hope you all have wonderful day :)
